Fuming orange can be used in place of traditional cyanoacrylate fuming to provide a fluorescent colored print in a single step. Fuming orange cartridges are used exactly like cyanoacrylate in fuming wands.
The Fuming Orange resin fluoresces under excitation from a wide variety of lights sources, (see below) and with an appropriate light source, the development of the latent prints can be observed, reducing the risk of overdevelopment.

In addition, a comparative analysis determined that 89% of latent finger prints developed with Fuming Orange were deemed identifiable as opposed to 70% processed with the Rhodamine 6G method. The image shown at the side is a finger print split in half. The left side of the print was processed with Fuming Orange and the Right side of the print was processed with Rhodamine 6G after cyanoacrylate fuming according to standard methodologies. As can be seen the side of the print processed with the Fuming Orange produced more even coloration.

Fuming Orange is a new product that represents an improvement over traditional CN fuming for latent fingerprints. Fuming Orange, is a hands off method for producing color fingerprints on a variety of surfaces.
Fuming Orange provides a fluorescent cyanoacrylate fingerprint on a variety of evidence types, wherever CN fuming can be used. It has all of the advantages of dye staining without the need for an additional processing step. In addition, the fluorescent emission can be excited by a wide range of wavelengths from 365nm to 530nm. So, Fuming Orange can be used with almost any available light source.
